Day 1
Journey into the Mongolian steppe & meet your host family
In the morning, depart from Fairfield Hovd and travel into the heart of Mongolia’s nomadic region. Enjoy scenic stops along the way, capturing the stunning landscapes of the open steppe, herds of horses, and traditional gers (yurts).
Around midday, arrive at a nomadic family’s home and receive a warm welcome. Settle into your accommodation—a traditional ger—and enjoy a home-cooked Mongolian meal. Spend the afternoon exploring the area, meeting the family, and photographing the daily routines of herders.
Capture golden-hour shots as the sun sets over the vast Mongolian landscape.
Enjoy an evening by the fire, listening to stories and learning about nomadic traditions.
Day 2
Full immersion into nomadic life & photography experience
Wake up early to witness the sunrise over the steppe—perfect for stunning morning photography. Then, join the family in their morning chores, such as milking livestock, herding animals, and preparing traditional dairy products. Enjoy a traditional Mongolian breakfast with fresh dairy and homemade bread. Afterwards, take a horseback ride (optional) to explore the surrounding landscapes and visit nearby nomadic families.
Spend the afternoon capturing portraits of the nomadic family, their lifestyle, and the breath-taking natural scenery. Participate in a special photography session during sunset, focusing on silhouettes, landscapes, and daily life moments.
End the day with a traditional Mongolian barbecue and share experiences with the family under the starry night sky.
Day 3
Farewell and final photos, journey back across the steppe
Start the morning with another sunrise photography session and a peaceful moment in nature, before enjoying a relaxed breakfast with your host family.
Take a final walk or short horseback ride to soak in the last moments of the countryside before farewelling your host family.
