Day 1
Chuluut Gorge and White Lake
Depart Fairfield Arkhangai in a private vehicle and head northwest on a 3-4 hour drive to Terkhiin Tsagaan Nuur (White Lake).
Along the way, stop at Taikhar Chuluu, a 20 metre tall rock covered in ancient inscriptions dating back to the 6th-century Turkic period. Learn about the legends and history surrounding this mysterious landmark.
Continue the journey with another stop at Chuluut Gorge, a dramatic canyon with stunning views of rocky scree and soaring birds of prey.
After taking in the scene, drive on to White Lake, where you’ll check into a comfortable ger camp right on the lakeshore. Relax and prepare for tomorrow’s adventures.
Day 2
Explore White Lake
Spend the day exploring White Lake any way you choose. If the weather is warm, take a refreshing swim in the clear waters and take in the stunning surrounds. Hike along the lake’s edge or climb into the mountains for breathtaking views. For a different adventure, rent a boat and paddle on the lake or arrange a horseback ride through the scenic landscape.
Whether you seek relaxation or adventure, this day is yours to enjoy at your own pace.
Day 3
Khorgo Volcano
Spend the morning on the lake, soaking in the last moments of this beautiful setting. Swim, take a boat ride, or enjoy a quiet walk along the shore.
After checking out of your ger camp, visit the fascinating Cave of the Yellow Dog: a massive sinkhole in the surrounding lava field.
Next, head to the base of Khorgo Volcano and hike up the rocky trail to the crater’s edge. From the top, take in breathtaking views of the crater, lava field, and White Lake in the distance.
Finally, return to Fairfield Arkhangai, completing your unforgettable journey through this beautiful region of Central Mongolia.
